Ian Swales MP for Redcar, supports Mrs Cave's campaign to have the 'Voodoo Knife Set', which depicts a man being repeatedly stabbed, removed from shops around the country. Ian believes that the set's design promotes violent behaviour and sends worrying messages to impressionable youngsters.

On Saturday 4th September, Ian Swales jumped on his bike to ride a 14 mile cycle track that runs right through his Redcar Constituency and to join in with just one of the events that the Sustrans charity organised throughout the area that weekend. The aim of the ride was to raise awareness of this excellent cycle track right on our doorsteps and to encourage people to get out on their bikes.

MP for Redcar, Ian Swales will be joining a fundraising bike ride on Saturday 4th September. The event is one of around 50 'Fresh Air Miles' events taking place across the country to celebrate15 years of the National Cycle Network.

On Sunday Ian Swales MP for Redcar had been a Member of Parliament for 100 days, and to mark this occasion Ian took some time to reflect on everything that has happened since he was elected on the 6th May. Time seems to have flown by since that night and when Ian looked at everything that he has achieved so far it seems almost unbelievable.

Wind turbines that will be distributed all over the world will have been made in Teesside, where we already have the industrial base and skill set to manufacture these parts''

Redcar MP Ian Swales has today called on the Environment Agency to take more action on the pungent and unpleasant odour from the Ensus plant. Local people are still suffering the effects and at the moment it appears that there will be no quick resolution. Ian attended a meeting attended by community leaders, Ensus and the Environment Agency on Wednesday 11th August and expressed his opinion on the matter openly.

The Declaration, a statement of allegiance to Yorkshire and its three Ridings, is read every year, on Yorkshire Day (1st August) at Redcar town clock, it is read at a time that coincides with the number of years since the first record reference to the Ridings, in the Anglo Saxon Chronicles of 876. Thus year it was 11:35 am; next year it will be 11:36 am.

Redcar Liberal Democrat MP, Ian Swales is delighted to see that there is a new £200M project coming to Teesside which will create around 50 permanent jobs in the area. This new renewable, green energy facility helps to cement Teesside's role in the creation of a new green technology base.

Redcar MP Ian Swales is pressing Ensus and the Environment Agency to make public statements about the noxious emissions coming from the new Ensus biofuels plant at Wilton. After starting up in February the company stopped production at the end of June and raised the height of a stack during July in an attempt to rectify the problem. However this change appears to have made little difference for local residents.

Dr Cable the Secretary of State for Business Innovation and Skills today announced on his visit to Corus in Redcar that the Government would invest £4.6 million in funding into the Tees Valley Industrial Programme (TVIP) for 14 projects in the region. Of this, £1.3 million will help develop Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in the North East. It's thought the 30 million spent by the programme so far should create 1,700 jobs.

Documents have been released that showed Labour ministers were formally warned about the need for the military to have an alternative to the Snatch Land Rover in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Iraq enquiry heard this from the then -Chief of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Sir Nicholas Houghton.

The coalition has only been in power for 10 weeks, but despite this short amount of time many Liberal Democrat manifesto pledges have been implemented or are due to be implemented. Only by the Liberal Democrats forming part of the coalition have these been made possible.

Redcar MP Ian Swales is determined to show that there is a way of raising money whilst dealing with the deficit by pressing the government to introduce a tax on the country's bankers, which would potentially provide billions of pounds to tackle poverty and climate change in the UK and abroad, according to Ian, who has called for the introduction of a financial transaction tax.
